After a 3 1/2 hour flight our plane landed at Bali's Airport (The real name is too hard for me to spell.) We paid a fee to get into the country and took a taxi to our hotel after security check etc. My family and I stayed at the Bali Dynasty Resort in Kuta. The hotel was big, cool, and spacious and about 20 mins from the airport. It probaly would have been quicker but there was a lot of traffic. There's always traffic in Bali, though. Bali has no speed limits and the roads are full of taxis and motorcycles. Okay, enough complaining for now. After settling in our rooms we had lunch at one of the hotel's restraunts, the Tropical Cafe. The food at the hotel is pretty cheap, especially becuase it is a (nice) hotel.
During our stay in Bali we swam in one of the pools or went shopping most of the time. We had a free breakfast buffet every morning(had everything!) and often didn't go shopping for long, as it was very hot outside. My mom got a massage (55 minutes) for about 140000 rp (around 14 USD). My sister and I got manicures for about 5 USD for 2 hands or 2 feet. Bali was pretty cheap but the clothing wasn't the best quality (expected that). If you are not good at bargaining then prepare to be ripped off. Don't be afraid to argue, and look at prices from a store with fixed prices before buying at a stall. I think the worst part of my trip was the street vendors. There is so many of them and they all want to sell you something! They are fine if you ignore them but the streets are still noisy. Taxis also honk their horns at you if they need passengers and you are walking on the sidewalk. We bought sarongs etc. and R4 Chips for the Nintendo DS.
